Masses at Saint Mary's, Hexham

Vigil Mass (Saturday evening, 6:00pm)

This Mass, celebrated on the vigil of Sundays, fulfills the Sunday Obligation.

This is a quieter Mass, but does include the singing of hymns.


Sunday Morning Mass (10:00am)

This is a full Sung Mass, often celebrated with incense and solemnity. Our choir and organist usually lead the music at Mass on the first and third Sundays each month,  our folk group on the second Sunday and on other Sundays a cantor and organist lead the congregation in song.

The Children's Liturgy Group is available for our younger parishioners during this Mass.


Sunday Evening Mass (6:00pm)

This is a spoken Mass.


Daily Mass and/or Service of the Word and Holy Communion (Monday to Saturday)

Mass Intentions

If you wish to have a Mass said for a personal intention, please complete the relevant details on one of the white "Mass Offering" envelopes which are available in the benches, at the back of St. Mary's Church, or from the Parish Office.

The completed envelope, together with your offering should then be forwarded to the Parish Office.

Please note: If you wish to have a Mass said at a particular time and/or on a particular date, then you must give as much notice as possible. A minimum of  6 weeks notice is advisable for the busier times.

Mass times

Vigil Mass: 6:00pm, Saturday evening.


Sunday Mass: 10:00am and 6:00pm.
