On Sunday 18th February we welcomed Knights and Dames from The Equestrian Order of The Holy Sepulchre of Jeruaslem to celebrate their 2018 Lenten Mass in conjunction with our 10:00am Mass. As can be seen in the photograph, the robed Knights and Dames made a spectacular sight.
The Order is a Religious Order of Knighthood, one of only two recognised by the Holy See.
The Order is international and has the specific task of supporting the maintenance and advancement of the Catholic Faith in the Holy Land, supporting parishes, schools, hospitals and universities. The work of the Order continues. The Christian community in the Holy Land represents a physical link between the modern world and the life and times of Christ. The Knights and Dames of the Order are committed to ensuring that the quality of this link is maintained and enhanced throughout the years to come.
A retiring collection was held after Mass, with the proceeds going to The Equestrian Order of The Holy Sepulchre of Jeruaslem, and raised the staggering sum of £438.58. This money will be passed on to the Latin Patriarch of the Order who will use it, along with the funds raised by the Order worldwide, to the benefit of the Christians in the Holy Land.
