This season's series of Galilee Talks conclude on Saturday 14th April with an event led by Permanent Deacon Rev. David Collins.
The talk is entitled "The Deacon in the Church: Past, Present and Future?". In this talk David will explore how the role of the Deacon in the Church has changed and evolved over the last two millennia. How following its Apostolic foundation as a ministry of service the unique and distinct role of the deacon within the Church had by the middle ages all but disappeared but was subsequently restored by the Second Vatican Council.
But what of deacons in the future? - with a threefold calling to the word, altar and charity there is scope for deacons to witness to their ministry in a huge number of ways and David will conclude by sharing some of his thoughts on what this might mean to the Church of the 21st Century
Refreshments will be served from 10:30am, with the talk itself starting at 11:00am. Everyone is welcome to attend what promises to be a very interesting and informative event.
